We are deeply committed to ensuring the utmost privacy and confidentiality in our therapeutic relationships, abiding by professional ethical guidelines of the BACP. Your privacy is our top priority.
When it comes to Walk and Talk Therapy, please note that, while we adhere to strict confidentiality standards, these sessions take place in public or semi-public outdoor settings. By opting for this type of therapy, you acknowledge and accept that:
- Our sessions might be conducted in parks, trails, or other outdoor public spaces.
- There is a chance that others may see us walking together, though they won’t be able to hear our conversations.
- We will choose routes and locations that maximise privacy while ensuring safety.
- You have the right to request different locations or switch to indoor sessions if privacy concerns arise.
Confidentiality is of the utmost importance, and professional ethics set out by the BACP have certain exceptions where disclosure may be necessary:
- **Imminent Danger**: If there is a clear and immediate danger of harm to yourself or others.
- **Child or Vulnerable Adult Abuse**: Suspected abuse or neglect of minors or vulnerable adults.
- **Court Orders**: When legally compelled by valid court orders or subpoenas.
- **Professional Consultation**: Anonymous consultation with colleagues for clinical purposes (no identifying information shared).
Clinical records are maintained to professional standards and legal requirements. All documentation is securely stored and accessed only by authorised personnel. Where possible, electronic communications are conducted through secure, encrypted platforms.
Regarding the website chat feature for general enquiries and basic communication, please be aware that:
- The chat function is **NOT** intended for therapeutic communication or crisis intervention.
- Messages sent through the chat do not constitute therapy or professional mental health services.
- No therapeutic relationship is established through chat communications.
Chat communications may not be subject to the same confidentiality protections as formal therapy sessions. We cannot guarantee the security or privacy of information transmitted through the chat feature. Chat logs may be stored on third-party servers beyond our control.
**We explicitly do not accept any responsibility for:**
- The security, privacy, or confidentiality of information shared through the chat.
- Any consequences arising from your use of the chat feature.
- Technical failures, data breaches, or unauthorised access to chat communications.
- Any reliance you may place on information exchanged through the chat function.
**The chat component should NEVER be used for mental health emergencies.** If you are experiencing a crisis or emergency situation:
- **Call 999** for immediate emergency assistance.
- **Contact Samaritans** at 116 123 (free, 24/7).
- **Text SHOUT** at 85258 for crisis text support.
- **Go to your nearest Accident & Emergency department.**
Therapeutic services are provided only through scheduled, formal therapy sessions. Advice or information shared through informal channels (including chat) should not be considered professional therapeutic guidance. Always consult with qualified mental health professionals for clinical concerns.
You have the right to:
- Request information about our confidentiality policies at any time.
- Discuss any privacy concerns regarding Walk and Talk Therapy.
- Choose alternative therapy formats if outdoor sessions don’t meet your needs.
You acknowledge responsibility for:
